Back Yard Grotto
Once a vacant lot has been targeted for effort as neighborhood improvement there should be a structure in place for planning the layout of the space.

Available beds, disabled access, rest and communal areas as well as loading and storage need to be attended to.

How as a group can members decide what to grow? should there be a theme or a focus? Should be be hard to find produce, making it easier accessible? or staples that can fluctuate in price. Should it be preservable produce or only the kind that is better fresh? Whatever it is should most certainly be pesticide free.

What are some solid systems of communication for garden members? Calendars, schedules, meetings, work days, needs and successes? Through message boards in garden, online or face to face?

Finally what can be done to enhance our community gardens, can we pull more people into the community? How do we encourage inter-generational education?

I’m sure many can contribute to centralizing resource and expertise for all of the city to enjoy…
